| Announcement Detail | Power and Water Utility Company for Jubail and Yanbu (Marafiq) announces that on the evening of Thursday, January 30, 2025 (30 Rajab 1446H), a fire broke out in one of the auxiliary units of the sixth unit’s boiler within the steam turbine unit in Yanbu Industrial City. It is noted that the unit was completely shut down at the time due to annual routine maintenance. The fire was fully contained and controlled but, Unfortunately, the incident resulted in fatalities among the maintenance contractor's workers. The company affirms that services to consumers were not affected by the fire and is currently coordinating with relevant authorities to investigate the causes of the incident. The company is also conducting a comprehensive assessment of the resulting damages, noting that the building is covered by insurance for such risks, which will be considered during damage assessment. “Marafiq” extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the concerned authorities, especially the Civil Defense and the Emergency Committee in Yanbu Industrial City (YAMA), for their significant efforts in helping to extinguish the fire.
