تتمثل أغراض الشركة في المقام الأول في تشييد وإدارة وتشغيل مجمع صناعي عملاق وهو يعد أكبر مشروع صناعي في العالم يشيد دفعة واحدة يقع في مدينة الجبيل الصناعية لإنتاج : الإثيلين، البروبيلين، البولي بروبيلين ، البولي إثيلين عالي و منخفض الكثافة ، جلايكول الإثيلين ، أكسيد الإثيلين ، الأسيتون ، الكحول الطبيعي (صنف المنظفات). وينتج مجمع الشركة مواد كيماوية متخصصة تنتج لأول مرة على مستوى صناعة البتروكيماويات في المملكة العربية السعودية مثل أمينات الإيثانول ، الإيثوكسيليت ، الكيومين ، الفينول ، البسفينول أ ، البولي كاربونات وهذه المنتجات بطبيعتها سوف تهيئ آفاقاً واسعةً أمام صناعات تحويلية في المملكة ذات قيمة مضافة عالية وأتاحت فرص عمل للقوى العاملة السعودية من خلال تهيئة الفرصة لقيام مشاريع عالية التقنية في البلاد تعتمد على هذا المنتجات كلقيم. وتتضمن أغراض الشركة ما يساعدها على تسيير عملها والنمو في مجالها ومجالات أخرى مقاربة.

شركة مساهمة سعودية مدرجة في سوق المال السعودي تم تأسيسها بموجب أنظمة المملكة العربية السعودية بسجل تجاري رقم 2055008450 صادر من مدينة الجبيل بتاريخ 26 جمادى الأولى 1428 الموافق 12 يونيو 2007م ، برأس مال قدره (15) مليار ريال سعودي وقد بدأت الشركة مزاولة نشاطها التجاري في 1 أكتوبر 2011م . ويعتبر مجمع شركة كيان السعودية للبتروكيماويات من أكبر المجمعات في العالم ويقع في مدينة الجبيل الصناعية.
