تتمثل الأنشطة الرئيسية للشركة في تطوير وتشغيل محطات الطاقة وتحلية المياه في المملكة العربية السعودية وعلى الصعيد الدولي من خلال: 1) توليد الطاقة الكهربائية، 2) توزيع الطاقة الكهربائية وبيعها بالجملة، 3) تحلية المياه، 4) إنشاء محطات الطاقة الكهربائية والمحولات، 5) إصلاح وصيانة محطات الطاقة الكهربائية والمحولات، 6) البيع بالجملة للمياه المحلاة. وتشارك الشركة في المشاريع التي تشمل أنشطتها ما يلي:1) تطوير وإنشاء وتملك وتأجير محطات توليد الطاقة الكهربائية ومحطات تحلية المياه المالحة والبخار والأنشطة المتصلة أو المتعلقة أو المكملة لذلك، 2) أعمال توليد وبيع الطاقة الكهربائية والمياه المحلاة والأنشطة المتصلة أو المتعلقة أو المكملة لذلك، 3) صيانة وتشغيل محطات الكهرباء والبخار وتحلية المياه المالحة، 4) شراء محطات توليد الطاقة الكهربائية ومحطات تحلية المياه المالحة، 5) شراء العقارات والمنقولات اللازمة لتنفيذ أغراض الشركة.
Company History
تعود بداية المجموعة 2004م عندما قامت شركة عبدالله أبونيان التجارية وشركة عبدالقادر المهيدب وأولاده (المؤسسين للشركة العربية لتنمية المياه والطاقة أو شركة أكوا القابضة، والمعروفة حالياً باسم شركة رؤية العالمية للاستثمار) ومجموعة مدى للاستثمار الصناعي (والمعروفة الآن باسم الراجحي القابضة) بتأسيس شركة أعمال المياه والطاقة العربية. وأتى ذلك استجابة للفرص الجديدة التي ظهرت في أسواق الكهرباء وتحلية المياه في المملكة العربية السعودية نتيجة القرار التاريخي الذي اتخذته الحكومة السعودية في عام 2002م بموجب قرار المجلس الاقتصادي الأعلى 5/23 وتاريخ 23/2/1423هـ (الموافق 3 يونيو 2002م) بإتاحة الفرصة لشركات القطاع الخاص للدخول التدريجي في قطاعات إنتاج الكهرباء وتحلية المياه بهدف تملك الأصول وتشغيلها. وفازت شركة أعمال المياه والطاقة العربية في عام 2005م بمناقصات مشروع الشعيبة لانتاج المياه والطاقة ومشروع بترو رابغ كما فازت شركة أعمال المياه والطاقة العربية بمشروع الشقيق ومشروع مرافق في عام 2006م. وفي عام 2008م، قامت مجموعة الراجحي القابضة ورؤية للاستثمار ومحمد عبدالله راشد أبو نيان وسليمان عبدالقادر المهيدب وأحمد سليمان الراجحي بتأسيس الشركة للاستحواذ على شركة أعمال المياه والطاقة العربية ولتوسيع إستراتيجية المجموعة لتشمل عملياتها الأسواق ذات النمو المرتفع خارج المملكة العربية السعودية. و منذ عام 2008م، تعتبر الشركة هي الشركة القابضة للمجموعة.
